This year's Fund-An-Item is a Campus Refresh plus a new Learning Resource Center.

Campus Refresh:

As a school we want to provide our students with facilities and modern classrooms that will help them fully engage in the learning process and meet their educational needs.  At St. Charles we want an environment where students participate in class discussions, engage in class interactions, and learn how to work, not only as an individual, but as a group.  Our curriculum lends itself to project work and group activities that brings everyone in the class together requiring effort by each individual student.  In order to accomplish this successfully, we need classrooms with flexible workspaces that have the ability to transform into tables, groups, or individual desks.

The learning environment our children currently have is outdated, and it is time that we take a look at how we can improve.

The last time our campus had a refresh was in 2009, and you can definitely tell as you take a walk through our hallways.  Our campus is in need of new carpet as well as new desks for our students.

Costs for Campus Refresh:

We need replace desks in 10 classrooms.  

Costs of desks per classroom is: $5,000 x 10 classrooms = $50,000

Carpeting throughout the Primary wing of the school, the main corridors, the library and the offices will                       cost: $110,000.

Total cost for Campus Refresh: $160,000

Learning Resource Center

It is our goal to always meet our students where they are and provide each of our children with what they need to be successful.  That means different things for different students.  One aspect of our campus that is long overdue is a dedicated Learning Resource Center.  This room will be equipped with study carrels and noise canceling headphones, allowing students to have a place where they can go if they need a space that is quieter and allows them to focus a little easier.  It will have other quiet areas for oral testing if necessary, and it will also have tables for small group study and interaction.  By having this space, we will no longer have to pull out students and have them work in the hallway.  We will be able to meet each student where they are and give them the resources necessary to help them work toward success.
